What issues did Visit Berlin face pre-AirDNA? 

To continually drive tourism dollars into Berlin, visitBerlin must intimately understand its local tourism landscape by discerning the impact of leisure tourism on the city, the effect of local policies on consumer behavior, and the business climate for international corporations. And while visitBerlin has had a robust understanding of lodging at hotels and hostels, they have been missing a critical component of the overall tourism landscape: private accommodations on Airbnb and Vrbo. 

For example, Berlin’s official statistics show that there were 30 million overnight stays last year, but those statistics fail to account for the significant increase that Berlin has seen in alternate accommodations.

Short-term vacation rental data from AirDNA is helping visitBerlin get a better sense of the visitors that come to Berlin. This data includes things like who they are and where they stay, which is useful in understanding the city's lodging marketplace.
