Europe is on track for a record-breaking summer tourism season, fueled largely by a surge in U.S. visitors. According to AirDNA, short-term rental bookings in Europe rose nearly 7 percent in the week ending June 21, while bookings in the Middle East dropped 40 percent amid rising geopolitical tensions. AirDNA Chief Economist Jamie Lane noted that tariff rhetoric and stricter U.S. border controls are deterring European travelers from heading stateside, encouraging more to vacation within Europe. The influx of American and intra-European tourists is driving up prices and triggering concerns over overtourism in cities like Barcelona, Venice and Santorini.

The rhetoric coming out of the US administration around tariffs has discouraged Europeans from visiting the US. We are seeing that across the board, from the Germans, the French, the Dutch.
