Short-term rental rates are surging in Mexico City, Guadalajara, and Monterrey ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup, according to AirDNA data. Following the December group stage draw, average daily rates in the capital have jumped 86%, from $93 to $208 (around 3,800 MXN) for match days. Occupancy in Guadalajara climbed from 1% to 18%, while Monterrey hit 27%. AirDNA’s Camilo Schmid Rivas notes that demand is spreading to neighborhoods previously overlooked by travelers. With limited supply and rising rates, Schmid recommends booking early to secure affordable stays during what is expected to be a highly impactful event for Mexico’s local economies.
